Kel Elkins is a Senior Data Visualization Programmer with NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. He collaborates with scientists to transform complex data from NASA missions into visual stories, drawing on observations from satellites and aircraft as well as results from large-scale supercomputer simulations. His work helps communicate NASA’s Earth and space science research to broad audiences worldwide.

Before joining NASA, Kel worked at Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI), developing visualizations and animations using Systems Tool Kit (STK) software. His work helped communicate complex spacecraft and aircraft mission scenarios to both technical and public audiences.

Kel holds a Master’s degree in Computer Graphics and Game Technology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State University.

In addition to his technical expertise, Kel is passionate about storytelling through data, combining programming, design, and visual effects tools to make scientific discoveries accessible and engaging.
