My graduate experience at Penn has officially come to an end. This December marks my completion of the University of Pennsylvania’s Computer Graphics and Game Technology [CGGT] Masters Program.
My last two courses of the program were a game design practicum and a fine arts animation course.
The game design practicum wrapped up nicely – I had a great group to work with, and we were able to come up with an interesting game mechanic that relied on light movement and shadow placement. (I plan to have a video posted soon)
The animation course was a great excuse to experiment further with projection mapping. For my final project, I animated a sequence designed to interact with objects on my living room wall. Specifically, the animation revolved around two window sashes (that previously held [stationary] artwork). Overall, I was pleased with how it came out, but like any animation project, I can think of several areas for improvement if I had more time to work on the piece. The video seemed to go over well at the final in-class critique, so that was encouraging.
Starting the graduate program at Penn as a part-time student seemed daunting at first, but the last few years went by much more quickly than I had expected. While I am excited to have more time to work on other projects, I will miss the time spent on campus.
